What’s the Story

I have just started looking into how this all fits together. There are many different gimbals and controllers available. But how does it fit together, which firmware works with my chosen gimbal controller.

I recently ordered this Gimbal and this Controller – old links removed.

At this stage, this post is just a collection of notes and links. Please let me know what I’ve got wrong, and I will correct it.

Closed source and Open source Firmware is available.

Closed Source

Alexmos is probably the best known hardware and firmware. hex file only available. I heard that it only runs on Alexmos hardware; I don’t know yet ??

BaseCam SimpleBGC. Originally called the AlexMos SimpleBGC. Basecam Electronics was founded by Aleksey Moskalenko. You can download the hex file and use avrdude to load the controller on Linux.

The “Russian” Firmware is possibly “‘nulled’ Alexmos firmware. Does “nulled” mean “cracked” ??
