Hydraulic and Electrical Adjustments – Section III

Abbreviated setup notes taken from manual.

Do Not exceed 12V output when setting Max-Min trimmers.

Before VP2 (proportional valve), set min-max voltages of VP6 (proportional valve).

VP6 – Flow Calibration – 3.10

Card 30 - meter 71-70 (top) - RV1 mould sensing, RV3 max speed, RV4 min speed
  • Final Braking Speed
    • when mold opening (P2 pressed) adjust RV1 for smooth travel – Note avoid sharp mold movement
  • min flow level calibration (speed)
    • when mold closing (P1 pressed) adjust RV4 for approx 4V
    • when mold closed – does toggle crosshead stay put (toggle fully extended), no opening begins
    • increase RV4 to see if opening starts
    • decrease RV4 until crosshead locked
  • max flow level calibration (speed)
    • view page-02
      • CONSTANT SPEED OPENING = YES
      • MOLD OPENING STROKE = set for machine type spec)
      • SPEED 1-3 STAGE OPENING = 50%
      • FINAL OPENING BREAKING SPEED = 99%
    • open mold (press P2) – LED stays on ??
      • no : reduce stroke of mold jack (RLC device, code 035) until P2 LED lights
    • adjust RV3 for 7.2V

VP2 – Flow Calibration

Hydraulic Calibration

  • remove coil VP2 from solenoid
  • on manual, close then open mold – watch both movements
    • if smooth (no pulsation), calibration is correct or high
    • adjust spindle (fig 3-2, detail 1, under nut-cap), anti-clockwise 1-deg at a time, repeating open-close cycle, for lowest speed without pulsation.
      • if pulsating, rotate spindle clockwise 1-deg at a time
    • lock spindle, replace cap
  • replace coil VP2 on solenoid

Electrical Calibration – 3.2.2.

Card 29 - meter 62-61 (top) - RV3 max flow, RV4 min flow
  • Minimum speed level calibration – 3.2.2.1
  • view page-02
    • BREAKING THROUGHOUT THE STROKE = YES
  • view page-03
    • SET MAXIMUM MOLD PRESSURE TO CLOSE TOGGLE : for machine type ???
  • on manual, open the mold
  • adjust RV4 for approx 2.5V (while open/close active)
  • view page-02
    • BREAKING THROUGHOUT THE STROKE = YES
    • CONSTANT SPEED CLOSING = YES
    • CONSTANT SPEED OPENING = YES
    • SPEED 1-3 stage closing = 15%
    • SPEED 1-3 stage opening = 15%
  • on manual, close and open mold looking for noticeable variation in speed
    • if yes, min speed level calibration is valid
    • if no, voltage low, increase RV4 until there is a noticeable variation
  • Maximum speed level calibration – 3.3.3.2
  • Note: MUST BE MATERIAL IN THE HOPPER
  • view page-08
    • SCREW ROTATION WITH 2 PUMPS = NO
  • view page-02
    • SLOW SPEED COMPLETE STROKE = YES
  • view page-10
    • SPEED-VI = 99%
  • on manual close mold then screw rotation (pressing P1 and P4) – maintain during calibration
  • adjust RV3 (still on card 29) for maximum screw rotations – likely approx. 5V
  • check if number of screw rotations varies with speed setting
    • view page-10
      • change SPEED-VI = from 99% to 95%
    • press screw rotation button P4
      • does screw rotations decrease
        • if no, max set too high so decrease V with RV3
  • NOTE: screw rotation P4 must be cycled after each change to check rotations

Pressure Control – VP1 – 3.4

  • Hydraulic Calibration
  • Ensure maximum hydraulic pressure – 3.4.1
    • remove cap – loosen locknut – seat spindle – lock locknut
  • Electrical Calibration – 3.4.2.1 – Card 29 – meter 60-61 (bottom)
    • see pressure chart bottom of page 3-3
  • Minimum pressure level calibration
  • view page-03
    • HIGH PRESSURE LOCKING = (min mm from bottom of page-03 under “position, high press from…to…mm”)
  • on manual close mold – hold P1 during whole calibration operation
  • adjust RV8 (min level), V approx 1V
  • view page-03
    • HIGH PRESSURE = at least 10 Bar higher than machine min setting
  • on manual mold closing – button P1
    • pressure gauge P1 on the gauge – check level
    • adjust RV8 until gauge shows page-03 HIGH PRESSURE
  • if no change when page-03 setting changed
    • adjust RV7 to reduce voltage on meter
  • NOTE: mold closing P1 must be cycled after each change to check pressure

Electrical calibration can be considered complete – go to “Final Hydraulic Calibration”

  • Maximum pressure level calibration

Final Hydraulic Calibration – 3.5

  • view page-03
    • HIGH PRESSURE = (max value (MAX….BAR)
  • set pressure gauge to position P1
  • on manual close mold (pressing P1) watching pressure
  • remove cap, loosen locknut – fig. 3-4 detail-1
    • turn spindle anti-clockwise for reading approx 10 bar below working pressure
    • turn spindle clockwise to working pressure
    • lock spindle and replace cap
