I receive comments and questions regarding viewing images and navigating web pages. So I’ve made a few notes on how I manage it. I only use Linux (KDE) and Firefox so I can’t help with Windows or Mac, although Firefox should be very similar.
I still get a lot of comments like “that’s good”, “how do you do that” etc. when other see my computer. But in Windows and IE, I haven’t got a clue.
When web browsing there are various ways to use the browser and navigate. There are some “tricks” that make browsing easier and quicker.
View Image full-size
- From the link provided you get this page “Step-1“
- With the mouse cursor over the image, click the mouse wheel
- = the wheel is also a button if you press it
- = click it only once
- = be sure not to turn it while clicking it
- The wheel-click creates a new tab “Step-2“
- Left-click on the tab to view the new page “Step-3“
- Left-click on the image to make it full size “Step-4”
- = use the sliders to move around the image
- Close just that tab when done
If this doesn’t work in Firefox your browser may be older or configured differently.
General Browsing
Notes:
- open links in new tabs; it’s quicker to go back
- close just that tab to instantly jump back
- single click first unless you know it needs a double click
- double-clicking when not needed confuses and slows everything
- if a site is taking a moment to load – give it a chance
- start multiple tabs loading from a search or page
- browse the quick ones while the others catch up; no waiting
- to find something – try holding “ctrl” and pressing “f” (find)
- this will generally open a search window or bar
