Just over a year ago a friend lost a 1.8 meter electric glider with a HD camera on board.
It was flying about 800 meters out, lost orientation and went down. We had about one square Km to search of which 80% was farm land. We spent a week searching and never found it, even with 2 eye witness reports.
I think searching for it may have been more fun than flying and I’ve got more aerial video of that rural area than Google and the local council 🙂
This was the main loss that prompted the tracker development. We’d talked about it before this but I needed a push to do the development.
I now fly with a tracker on the plane and feel a lot more confident.
